yamahadrums
I am bouncing in place a mono file (hi-hat). The bounced file is stereo-why? Even if I create a mono track and point it for the bounced file it automatically makes both the track and the bounced file stereo.
grooveroom
Perhaps there's a Stereo-Plugin in your Source Channel Strip? Try deactivating them all.
redlogic
I also noticed this with Bounce in Place. Trying Bounce in Place with a mono vocal created a stereo file. Things I tried: 1. Made sure the plugins were all mono. 2. Made sure the stereo/mono selector at the bottom of the vocal channel strip and Output 1-2 was mono. 3. Tried selecting a mono output on the vocal channel strip and made sure the stereo/mono selector at the bottom of Output 1 was mono. 4. Gave up on "Mono Bounce in Place". 5, Did Export Region as Audio File. The result was a mono file Ideas anyone?
yamahadrums
Perhaps there's a Stereo-Plugin in your Source Channel Strip? Try deactivating them all. Not at all. Tried with no plugins loaded. Even if 1-2 is set to mono the bounced file is stereo. I think it's a bug.
yamahadrums
Got it!!! You must uncheck Include Volume/Pan Automation and the bounced file is Mono on Mono track. And a guy from other forum explained to me why it is not a bug. Never thought about it in that way, but when you have a pan setting bounced it is normal the file to be stereo, so there can be left and right. Stupid me!!! innocent.smith
I'm having the reverse problem - I attempt to BIP a stereo mix file, and it gives me back a mono... no plugins, etc. The weird thing is, I did this many times and it worked fine, but just since yesterday it's quit working. Any tips?

Makes sense now. But, like martist asked, Lets say I have volume automation but no panning. How can I export or bounce mono file WITH volume automation? One way requires 2 steps: 1. Bounce in Place with Include Volume/Pan Automation checked. This produces a stereo file that includes your volume automation. 2. Make sure the channel strip is mono and Bounce in Place the stereo file you just made with Include Volume/Pan Automation unchecked. This produces a mono file. ReinMan
I know this is an older thread, but I thought I'd add this A) the above helped me sort out a similar problem, so thanks to above posters! B) even if the stereo plug-in is muted (in my case a reverb) the BIP will be a STEREO track. I un-plugged (deleted) the muted reverb and got my mono track.
