boglary
I have an external Midi interface connected to the keyboard trough MIDI cables. The communication is good, I create a midi track with software instrument, record the melody and can chose a sound afterwards from the media library of logic. However I want it in reverse, I want to chose the sound from my keyboard. First I am not sure whether I have to create the Midi track as software instrument, or external Midi. Also I know there are midi channels I have to set as well. Is it from the menu on the left just chose a channel? how do I know which channel? Do i also need to set something in my keyboard? I am reading the Logic 8 book but I am lost in the hundreds of possibilities.
fader8
Open Audio MIDI Setup and you'll see your MIDI interface. Create a new device for your synth/keyboard and configure its properties. Cable it to the interface device just as its cabled physically. Close AMS. Open Logic. You can create an external MIDI track and just select its target from the library now by device and channel. Or, create an instrument track and use the external instrument plug-in.
boglary
thank you. I did a big detour and solved it in another way setting the sunds and channels in sequence mode in the keyboard and then bounced them real time as audio. But it might be simpler with what you say...
