Audio Rewire from Sibelius 6 .01 to Logic Pro 8.02

Hi Guys,

sorry about this one

I just need to rewire Sibelius out to record tracks on Logic, I've never did it before,

yes, ma bad.

I can't create an audio object in the environment it doesn't show the option,

I've also try to install the rewire 1.7 and it gave an error, anyway it works on Protools,

it's just easy as you choose a rewire plug-in on bus and route it to a track hit record and Bum,

it works.

Also it doesn't appear in the library.

I've checked the manual also but something is escaping for my view.

Can you please give me some tips or even e-mail me a rewire session in case you have one?

Cheers,

Jorge

Dear Cheryl,

I'm afraid, that exporting audio to Sibelius don't make much sence as the application works the other way around. Rewire mode is turning Sibelius a slave application and Logic the master: once you make the midi arranges the rewire permits you to syncronize both apps to record audio on the DAW app (Logic) or Bounce the written notation into audio tracks or (without the rewire) export the midi.

If you want to capture your real performance use always Logic (audio or midi)

you can export the midi files to Sib. and make the changes there.

I hope this making sence to you, if not please drop me a line, I'll try to explain myself better.

Peace,

Jorge

Ps: I'll write another post on how to do it.

Open Logic, then Sib

In Logic go to the mixer (top window mixer) Options and create a new auxiliary

channel strips... (Option+ Cmd+ N) It creates a new Aux (go to that input) and choose sibelius>RW-Mix- L/R

In Sibelius choose PLAY>Playback devices>audio engine options. click the Repair button to fix the rewire. Quit sibelius & open again. It should now have the rewire icon on the play head (sib). On logic click on play and the load score in sibelius must start playing in sync with Logic.

Peace,

Jorge

To record in Logic the tracks from Sib:

See Mixer (in Logic the rewire track name as sibelius) Send on Bus 1 (send knob - green) Option + click 0db and create as many audio tracks you need, I usually record each instrument to a stereo track, to have better control of the mix.

But you could do it to one stereo track only.

To record in Logic create audio tracks; and choose Bus 1 as the audio input.

Arm the track R and your ready to go.

Don't forget to rec individual tracks you have to select S (solo on each correspondent sibelius mixer track).

The funny thing is ,

it took me a hour to explain an write this an it takes only a minute to config.

:D

Peace,

Jorge

Dear Joreg,

Thank you so much for taking time to explain this to me. You rock!! I hope it will help others as well. I cannot wait to try it out. I have been recording in Logic and trying to export midifiles to Sibelius 5. And I had tried to import midi files in Sibelius that I had saved in Logic. For some reason , it would not convert midi to more than one staff. I tried everything. I am hoping this will fix my problem so I can work on publishing my recorded arrangements. Thanks so much again for your expertise and time invested in answering my question! Have a great day!

:D
