martinh
Hi I'm doing a lot of stuff with logic at the moment and it definitely needs mixing. I've never actually mixed anything before. Is the best approach to use track automation for each track. If not can anyone give me a basic primer on how to mix or point me in the direction of a resource please? David Nahmani
Moderators - Why move this out of the logic forum when it was a specific Logic related question? Hi Martin, I don't see any Logic specific question in this thread? Mixing is the same whether you use Logic or any other music production tool, a tape, another DAW, etc... - that's why this thread belongs here in the Control Room. fisherking
google. do some research, study the music you like, see what makes it work. use automation WHEN YOU NEED IT; really, some tutorials or articles online (or a book, for example) are great places to start... martinh
I am attempting to learn how to mix using Logic hence using a Logic forum. I was hoping for tips on Logic specific tools such as the Logic mixer or automation not mixing in general. Perhaps my question could have been phrased more appropriately. As an example...if I want to change the volume in a track so it is quieter in certain parts where I want another track to be louder. The only thing I can think of is to use automation to quieten the part which I want to be quieter. Another option could be to break the track up in to smaller pieces and manipulate that way but that seems like overkill. Am I going about this the right way or getting it completely wrong? Thanks for your help. Martin
fisherking
automation should work fine for this, and it's easy to fine-tune & edit your levels. try it...
