iandyha
i always put it at mp3 but cant say theres a huge difference from wav. to mp3 imho. ussually if theres a problem with the way it sounds on a stereo it's always something i'm not doign right in the mix. i used to have the problem of my songs sounding too soft after i mix it. til i started using some of the mastering presets that logic has to offer
JumpingInFire
I would always bounce to WAV but it ultimately depends on where your music will end up. If you plan on distributing CDs then absolutely WAV. If you're just putting it on Myspace then mp3 is fine. So what are your needs . . . ?
David Nahmani
Bounce to one of the PCM formats (WAV, AIFF or CAF) and burn it onto your CD using Logic's Burn option (one song per CD) or using iTunes (several songs per CD). There's a pretty big difference between mp3 quality and PCM quality. mp3 is a lossy compression algorithm - meaning in order to achieve smaller file size you have to lose some of the data, so the quality of the signal is lower. Since CDs encode PCM data, there's no point compressing to mp3 before burning onto a CD.
emilenitrate
There's a HUGE difference between WAV and mp3. The mp3 is a compressed format, very convenient for email and iPods, but not acceptable for pro music applications. The WAV is of superior audio quality but at the price of a much larger data size. Like JumpingInFire says, for myspace, you'll need an mp3. I'd advise you to bounce to both formats, and listen carefully until you can hear the difference between the two. An mp3 certainly has it uses but if you've spent any time at all considering the sonic quality of your work you should go WAV or AIFF. If you can't hear the difference between the two, it most likely is your system, or that you're not accustomed to listening that critically yet. Keep listening and you'll get it. Or take off the ear muffs... - Emile David beat me to the punch here. I'd like to add that mp3 has it's uses, particularly when emailing a quick mix to a collaborator for a quick check.
