soundbase
I have just got Logic 9, but am a bit hesitant to install it on my Mac Pro just yet. I want to install Logic 9 on my Macbook Pro and give it a whirl and see what is working and not working (e.g. plugins) before I move it onto the Mac Pro. How does Logic 9 install? Does it overwrite Logic 8, or do both versions reside in the Applications folder, like with Logic 7. Thanks in advance for the info
Jordi Torres
Hi, Both versions reside in the Applications folder, like with Logic 7. However, I'd recommend you back up your instruments, channel strip settigs, plugin settings, key commands, etc, before you install L9, just in case. Cheers, J. Alan Shields
Logic 9 is a separate install and does not overwrite 8. I bought the Logic 8 to 9 Upgrade and I can still open 8 any time I wish. HTH, Alan.

Alan Shields
That's good advice from jordito. I also made a seperate copy of my Project folder so I have a Logic 8 Project folder and a Logic 9 Project folder in case of problems (I've had none so far). Alan. JM_Owens
Unless you physically uninstall 8, you likely already do.
