Exporting multple tracks to a QT movie

Recommended Posts

Can Quicktime files have layers of audio tracks embedded on them?

What I'd like to be able to do is keep music and voice over as seperate layers in one movie file. This would be for delivery to the film editor so he can archive the two tracks seperately.

Can that be done?

PS: for some reason the editor just doesn't send me movies with smpte, so I send him back the movie file + my work embedded. My life would be easier if I had smpte. :x

Yes, Quicktime supports multiple audio tracks. Not sure exactly how to do it but you should be able to do it with Quicktime Pro.

Ask him to add BITC (Burnt-in timecode) to the video file. Good luck! :D

WHOA! That would make perfect sense!

But isn't this the norm? It can't be that hard to do, yet I've had two consecutive video guys send me footage with no *a-hem* BITC (love it, it's growing on me so quickly!)

Thanks for the advice!

It should be the norm. But video editors don't really care - YOU do. So it's your responsibility to ask for it.

Just like a video editor may wish you'd always name all your audio files with the sample rate included in the name of the audio file - but you don't care - THEY do. So if they need that, they'll ask you for it.

Get the idea? :D
