thekish
I have Logic Express 9. I'm trying to use step input with my midi keyboard in the score editor to put in 16th notes, but it only writes eighth note triplets, even when i've selected 16th notes from the step input keyboard. the piece is in 4/4 if that makes a difference. Thank you
David Nahmani
And the step input keyboard is open? And the triplet button is off? What happens when you close the step input keyboard?
thekish
I have no idea what happened, but now it's fixed. I closed the step input keyboard, worked on a different instrument track, came back to the track where I was having trouble, and now it works. Maybe Logic was just being screwy? Chris
Check the Grid resolution in the transport, under the time signature. Make sure it's set to /16 and not /12.
David Nahmani
Check the Grid resolution in the transport, under the time signature. Make sure it's set to /16 and not /12. The thing is, while the step input keyboard window is open, the division setting in the transport bar shouldn't matter.
Chris
Could be a bug. I don't ever use the step input keyboard, but I just tried it and got the same results as thekish did. Changing the grid resolution had an effect on a few notes but most just entered as 8th note triplets even though the grid was set to 16th notes and the triplet button was not engaged on the step input keyboard. David Nahmani
Weird - don't have time to test that now but I'll try it tomorrow.
thekish
bringing this one back up. having the same problems again. I need to copy this into sibelius for a guitarist to read, and all i'm getting is 16th note triplets now. is there a way to change the quantization of the score editor without affecting the actual midi performance? maybe that would help

In score you need to make sure you've got a score quantisation selected that is the best for the sequence. For example; if you choose 8/12 as quantise in score, all swing (neo triplets) will be displayed as 8's.(Unless there are 3 of them). Fiddle with that and see if it helps. Hope this helps, but I'm a bit inder the unfluence.
