No Sound From Virtual Keyboard In Logic Pro 8

All of a sudden, there is no sound coming from any logic instruments via the virtual keyboard. Everything was working fine yesterday, when all of a sudden in the middle of making a beat, the sound stopped. I have tried changing the midi and audio settings, but there is still no sound. I don't have an external keyboard connected, just the logic virtual keyboard. It is like the virtual keyboard has no connection to logic at all, which I know may sound crazy.

I have also tried loading other virtual instruments and it still won't work. It has to be something simple I am overlooking. Any assistance is GREATLY appreciated. PLEASE HELP!! :(

Hello JayValdez,

Please add your Logic version and system info to your signature: Read Me Before Posting - Forum Guidelines (#5)

Choose Window > Environment. In the layer selection menu (top left), choose "Click and Ports". In that layer, make sure the "SUM" output of the Physical Input object is somehow connected through to the "Sequencer Input" object. If a cable is undone, grab the little triangle output of an object onto the following object to re-establish the connection. You should see this:

David, everything appears just like the diagram u posted above EXCEPT there is no wording inside the Physical Output object box that is supposed to say "Port1, Port2, Soundtrack Pro Sync, CapsLock Keyboard", etc. It only says "SUM" in that box. Doesn't seem like that would be the problem, but I did notice that difference from the diagram u provided. Is it supposed to have that? Thanks.

No, don't worry about that - different systems have different MIDI inputs, that's normal. However, you should see a "Caps Lock Keyboard output".

What happens if you click one of the notes on the Input Notes keyboard? Can you hear it?

BTW when you said "virtual keyboard", I assume you means the keyboard that pops up when you press caps lock, yes?

Right, I meant the Caps Lock Keyboard, sorry. And yes, I can hear the notes when I click on the Input Notes keyboard. There is just no sound when pressing the keys on the caps lock keyboard.

And no, I do not see "Caps Lock Keyboard output" inside the Physical Output object box. I only see "SUM" in the Physical Output object.

I did not check the octave range or the velocity. I just now opened an empty track and went to acoustic piano > pop piano and somehow it is now working. I did not do anything other than what u told me, but i am very happy that it is now working. I just wish I knew exactly what the root cause of the problem was. Nonetheless, I greatly appreciate your time and effort in helping me. :D
