This forum is going downhill

Rundfunk

Recommended Posts

Ive posted quite a few relevant topics on this forum, with no responses from anyone.

My questions/concerns are relevant, but no one seems to know the answers, or at least wants to contribute.

never the less, I know you guys do have knowledge and answers to my questions, it just puzzles me as to why no one shares them with me.

As I expect, this post will get replies...

I wish I could say the same thing about my other posts :)

Hm. After quickly skimming your posts, they have answers all over the place, so maybe your perception of reality is distorted. Maybe you could pinpoint your complaint a bit less generally.

Then, there's always an inherent problem with defining oneself's relevance. Of course you're special. But so is everyone else.

Again, can you post links or somesuch, as I don't feel inclined to investigate on my time or stalk your every move, thanks.

What I was wondering is how you come to the conclusion that the [entire] forum is going downhill if it is just your posts that don't get a reply. If all posts wouldn't be answered, then yes, you would have a case.

Maybe you're giving too little info, maybe you're too vague or maybe your problem is so specific that no one can replicate the problem. I don't know.

tippie,

Here's why:

a) maybe no one has the answer (as Dave said)

b) maybe someone has the answer but doesn't have time to reply

c) maybe the person who has the answer has missed your post or isn't a member of this forum

d) maybe the question's been answered before here on LPH, there are people who participated in that thread, but they haven't answered your question because it's clear that you haven't done a search of the forum to find out if it's been discussed before, so they don't feel like repeating themselves

e) all other possible reasons that don't involve singling you out and ignoring you for some reason unbeknown to you.

Now, to the dichotomy...

On one hand you're paying LPH and it's members quite a compliment to have posted your questions here. Clearly your expectation is that you can get knowledgeable advice from the people who frequent LPH. That's great! On the other hand, you start a thread implying that the ENTIRE forum is going downhill because YOUR questions haven't been answered? Puh-LEEEEEEEEEEZE!!!

So which is it? The forum is great? Or the forum sucks?

In the future, if you haven't gotten an answer, BUMP your post once or twice (within a reasonable amount of time).

My final advice --- expect NOTHING. You haven't paid a dime to be a member (no one has, eh?) and people who contribute here do so FOR FREE. So while it's very nice that you feel that you CAN get answers here, it's just not always going to happen. You're not the only one this has happened to.

The only thing going downhill is the apparent attitude of some people who believe that this community is a kind of paid commercial service that should respond as such. That's delusional. This is a self-help community and any answers or solutions you may receive are given from pure generosity. The only expectation of any community like this, is that if you receive information of value, you should try to contribute in kind.

I'm not seeing very many of your posts going unanswered. If there is something you're really having a problem with, as ski has said, you're welcome to bump the thread.

Pursuant to ski's remarks, not everyone reads every thread, particularly if the title is asking about equipment or software that they just don't have. Timing is another aspect. With a new Logic release most peoples focus is on that. But again, bump something if it's really important.

I just did a search of your posts, tippie. I found this one:

http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=243967&highlight=

In that post, you don't describe the problem. IMO it's perfectly understandable that you won't get a good (or any) response to your post if you can't describe the problem for yourself.

Next... Your post regarding the Learn function...

http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=227923&highlight=#227923

I could be wrong, but there are probably hundreds of posts on this subject here on LPH. And assuming that's the case, sure, who would want to wade through all of them (in keeping with the etiquette of searching before asking) to find out if the question's been answered before? But just because it hasn't been answered doesn't mean anything other than "your post hasn't been answered". Statistically, the forum does NOT suck as a result of this.

Finally... Your post on some BETA software...

http://www.logicprohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=224787&highlight=#224787

So, of all of your posts, only 3 remain unanswered (per my brief survey). My advice? Buck up and move on. That's all I have to say.

I've obviously offended some poeple on this thread. So, my apologies for that.

I don't however, think that this is a paid commercial site, I understand as well as everyone else on this site that the information given is freely given. I have contributed a lot to this forum since I joined so I fully understand that.

As for how you guys responded, it's clear that my original post didn't please any of you, so it's my bad.

Looking at my choice of title for this thread, I can see that's its clearly misleading. I'm actually very grateful for this resource of information, and the ability to help and be helped by others.

So, here's my formal apology! This forum does NOT suck, my comments were a direct result of me having a pretty bad day. Which I'm sure all of us have had at some point.

Saying that this forum is going downhill is only going to make me hang out here that much more.

But bscenes, now that you're here the quality of the forum has improved by leaps and bounds! So now whatcha gonna do?

SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO NOW (na na NA na NA na NA)

SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO NOW (na na NA na NA na NA)

@tippie -- bad days? Like, er, the one I'm having right now?

Thanks for your reply.

Way to go .... Yes, we all have bad days for sure.
