dRaff
I have 1 patch that has an EXS24 that I have customized with multiple conga sounds triggered by the pads on the Axiom 49. I have another patch that has one of the nice Rhodes settings on it via the EVP88. I play both of these at different points in the same song, so I usually end up switching patches multiple times during the song. Can I set it up on 1 patch to have 2 channel strips so that the pads trigger the channel strip that has the EXS24/Congas, but the keyboard itself plays the channel strip with the electric keyboard on it? I obviously know how to set the patch itself up, but I don't know how to have the pads trigger 1 channel strip while the keys trigger another channel strip. It is not as simple as a split point because the pads also correspond to various keys on the keyboard. Thanks!!

jimi n lynda
parameter map the channel strip (in edit mode) to a pad. i have several different strips with different sounds set to different pads all within the same patch. my keyboard plays a totally different sound or combination of sounds. i think that's your question answered? with my horridly poor grammar? Most of these combo keyboards with pads provide different channels or in many cases, separate MIDI device entities for each section of the keyboard. For example, I think the Novation SL has one entity for the knobs/faders/buttons, one for the drum pads and another for the keyboard. This means that if you have drum pads and a keyboard in your layout, you can assign your keyboard to control the keyboard and assign each drum pad to each pad on your controller. Then in Edit mode, you can decide what each of these screen controls will work with. For example, you can set the MIDI input for one channel to listen to the keyboard (the Rhodes) and another to listen to the pad (the drums). rossbenny
Hey, I have the same keyboard and same problem. As far as I can tell, the pads are just keyboard notes, they can't send seperate special midi signals. What I've done is: The pads correspond to C1 up to Fsharp1 (ie, octave 1), so: Go to the channel strip inspector for your organ (or whatever the instrument is). Change the low key of your organ to something above Fsharp1 (ie,G1 or C2). If you actually need to play the notes below G1 on your organ, then click the transpose buttons to transpose the instrument down 12 steps so that the keyboard key for C2 will actually sound as C1, and B2 for B1 etc. Now your pads are free to use for the drums. Hope that solves it for you!
Laidech
I have the Axiom also, I have my pads set from C-2 to F#-2, far lower than I would ever need to play using keys. This way I don't have to sacrifice physical keys. You edit the pads on the axiom to send values 0 through 7 (0 for first pad, 1 for second, etc) using the Data 1 button. Check your Axiom manual under "3.5.1". Hope this helps
