Focus
Hey all, I'm trying to hook up an old sustain pedal (which doesn't have a polarity switch) I've had sitting around to my yamaha kx8 controller. Currently the sustain triggers oppositely of how it's supposed to. I've tried deleting the control surface preferences file as well as any control devices within the logic control surface preferences. If it makes a difference I also have a Novation Remote SL hooked up in tandem. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me get this running properly? Thanks! fader8
Plug it onto the RemoteSL's pedal input. You can set the properties for the pedal, NO/NC, in the Global settings menu.
Focus
That works perfectly when the pedal stays plugged into the remote sl but it's still backwards when I plug it back into the kx8. Am I missing a step?
fuzzfilth
Keep it plugged in the Remote SL. The Yamaha needs a differently wired pedal. Christian
Focus
There's no way to make the one I have work?
fuzzfilth
Patch a Transformer between PhysicalInput and SequencerInput and set it like this: http://home.arcor.de/fuzzfilth/Other/cc64.png Christian
ski
Fuzzfilth's suggestion will work perfectly, but only if you're using the sustain pedal when plugged into the Yamaha. If you were to then plug it into the Novation, it would work backwards all over again. AND (there's always more) you'll have to add this environment-based fix into every song you have where you want to continue using the Yamaha as a controller. There are some relatively simple ways to do this, post back if you want details. IMO, the simplest solution is to plug it into the Novation and call it a day. The second simplest solution would be to dig deep into those pockets of yours and buy a different sustain pedal. Some of them even have a polarity switch. Barring those two things, fuzzfilth's suggestion will work just fine, given the caveats I mentioned above.
fader8
If you need the sustain pedal plugged into the KX8, perhaps for arpeggiator control or something, you could edit the template you're using in the RemoteSL to send cc64 out one of the extra MIDI ports. Cable that to the KX8 and you'd probably be good to go.
Focus
Cool You Guys, Thanks for the info. I'll probably just hunker down and get a new pedal. My Novation only has 25 keys. That's why I'd like to use it on the Yamaha. Cheers!
fuzzfilth
Um, you do know that you can use the keys from the Yammy and the Pedal on the Nova simultaneously, right ? Christian
Focus
Man i didn't even think about that. That really just hit the spot for me! Thanks for your help.
