fader8
This can depend on what are you hosting the VSTi with. FXpansion? Kore? Plogue? Is there an AU version of the instrument you want to automate? Which instrument is it? bendish
using a macbook 13" with logic 9 i just want to for example modulate the cut off of say the es1 using the hyper editor cheers
David Nahmani
Here's my method: 1) Record the ES1 onto a software instrument track. 2) Set the track's automation to "Touch" or "Latch", press play and tweak the Cutoff. 3) Choose Track > Track Automation > Move Visible Track Automation to Region (if the automation lane is visible, otherwise one of the other options). 4) Open the Hyper Editor and in the Inspector, from the Hyper Set menu, choose "Create Hyper Set for Current Events". You should have an event definition for the ES1 cutoff, and now you can edit or reprogram the cutoff events in the Hyper Editor.
bendish
thanks that works seems like drawing automation on the track is way more accurate and smooth than doing it in the hyper editor...after drawing automation curves on the track you get a corresponding smooth line in the hyper editor....this is not the case reversed...when drawing in the hyper editor, the curve on the track is all squared up and jagged...odd also the draw tool in the hyper editor has some odd behaviour of lagging and jumping forward...any ideas? David Nahmani
seems like drawing automation on the track is way more accurate and smooth than doing it in the hyper editor... It's the same data represented in different ways. In the Hyper Editor, you can adjust the grid resolution in the Inspector. But to judge of the smoothness of the automation, use your ears, not your eyes. Your eyes may be deceiving you.
bendish
ears and eyes are in sync on this one thanks for the help
David Nahmani
Well then like I said, you can adjust your resolution in the Hyper Editor to have it as smooth or as stepped as you want.
Matt Mayfield
vsti parameters There are no VSTi's in Logic. There are Software Instruments. I'll bet you call Pepsi, Dr Pepper, and Mendota Springs all "Coke," don't you?
