Recording MIDI Controller Information [solved it myself]

I have recorded some notes, which are displayed in the Arrange window fine.

 

I have mapped one of the knobs on my keyboard to 'cutoff', a particular ES1 parameter I want to play around with.

 

So I hit record and move it around etc. but the data that is recorded doesn't really seem to coordinate to what I played.

 

This is actually the first time that I have tried editing parameters via MIDI on the fly. Some of my movements are being recorded, but I don't know where they are being displayed.

 

To summarise: What's the easiest way to record parameters via MIDI controllers?

 

What you do is you use Automation. Set It to 'Touch' and Play, don't record.
