Onkel Echo
Just bought an Apogee AD16X with firewire option card installed and everything else seems right but in Logic 9.02 there are only two outputs to choose from. The Apogee´s firmware is 2.03 (latest) and I have booted it in 2.0 mode in which the outputs should appear. Thanks for you help. Esko
Chris
The AD16X doesn't have outputs, It's an analog to Digital converter only. You need to buy the DA16X to get the outputs, or it you want Inputs and Outputs in the same box you should have gone with the Rosetta 800.
Onkel Echo
Hope I undestood it right. The manual states quite clearly that I should be able to route the signal from the DAW to the digital outputs of AD16X. Enlish isn´t my native language so I may be quite wrong although I read that some ten times or more. Quote from AD16X´s users manual: "With Advanced Option routing, the AD and DA-16X offers additional digi- tal I/O to Digidesign HD or Firewire-based audio systems. As depicted in the routing diagram at left, when an X-HD card is installed in both an AD and DA-16X, it becomes possible to route the DA-16X’s AES or ADAT inputs to a Pro Tools session while routing the AD-16X’s AES and ADAT outputs from the session. The AD-16X functions as a Digidesign 192 with 16 analog inputs and 16 digital outputs while the DA-16X func- tions as a 192 with 16 digital inputs and 16 analog outputs. Of course, the same functionality is possible with X-Firewire cards and a Firewire- based audio system."

mwproject
I haven't messed with one of those in a while but I am quite sure you can route to the AES outputs when using Logic. May be in the actual device setup of the AD-16x. Sorry I'm not much help but no need to stress as it should work fine once properly set up. I'm pretty sure I have done this before and there was something specific I had to do on the Apogee unit. I just don't remember what exactly it was. My point is don't panic.
