MacBook question: booting from an external FW drive....

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to boot a MacBook from an external hard drive and therefore use the internal drive for sample streaming...

What do you think... or is that a lame idea ???

Never done it, but I know that the serial bus is 10 times faster than FW, so sample streaming might be so much better that way...

Other question is, that once the OS is loaded from the FW drive, would the drive have to be accessed all the time, e.g. virtual memory, etc... ??? or would the drive be left alone ???

Any thoughts will be very appreciated!!
