finding VST plugs in Logic 4.8

Hi I am trying to get my old G3 running Logic 4.8 again and reinstalled it okay along with a load of VSTs.

Problem is-none of the VST plugs appear in the channel strip menus-neither instruments nor effects.

 

I tried dumping the VST folder into the Logic folder on the audio drive but is there some other internal stuff I need to do, or is everything perhaps too old and past it now?
