Will an encrypted disk image affect external drive speed?

Recommended Posts

I only just started to actively use a sparse disk image for my external drive library. It's encrypted - will I see any negative effects on performance, or is it negligible?

I run all my Logic projects, plugin patches, sound libraries from it. It worked fine without the encryption, but I wanted to added layer of protection, should I lose the drive... (read: have it stolen)

Thanks!
