eieio
I'm just not getting the ah-ha moment here. I've looked at the Saitara site and downloaded MidiPipe and a "custom AC-7 pro settings file" as the site instructed. The part that throws me is this sentence: "In your music software you need to install a “Mackie Control” control surface, then set DSMI as the MIDI in and MIDI out for the Mackie Control plugin." There's an ebay video that allegedly shows the Saitara guy installing the thing w Logic but it has no sound and is barely visible. Cryptic? Is there anyboby that installed this setup and is willing to share the step-by-step procedure? I'll name my firstborn after you. Thanks and sorry for the lamentations. cojomo
Yeah, it can be confusing at first. The SonicState review shows the setup in detail: There is one mistake in the review though... the AC-7 should be in LC mode when used with Logic. eieio
I downloaded and installed DSMI and Midipipe. I setup Mackie control and set out port to midi pipe input 1 and input to DSMIDIWifi out. Nothing happens. No control at all. The AC-7 Pro is set to LC as you instructed. What am I missing?
cojomo
Hmm... could be your wifi setup. What are you using? Easy way to get it working is to bypass your router. Right click your airport icon then "create new network" Give it a name, then connect to it on the iPad. Start DSMidiwifi, then double click the ac-7 mcu.mipi file, start the AC-7 app, then finally Logic.
eieio
I opened everything as you said, in proper sequence, but still nothing. Are these Midipipe settings correct: Tools=All, Pipes=Sysex to Standard Midi. I created a new network. I get a message saying it can't see the Mackie control device. It's as though the AC-7 Pro app is not functioning. Could that be the problem? Thanks.
eieio
Here's a screenshot of what happens when I try to connect. It appears as if nothing is getting to the MacBook Pro or I'm not assigning the midipipe correctly.
aceface007
I am having the same problem. Did you ever get this resolved? I did everything the videos and directions are saying, but it will not connect. Someone please help me! =(
cojomo
Hi, the midipipe doesn't need any setting up... just double click the ac-7 .mipi file to start it up. Those "error" messages happen occasionally when Logic starts up , but clicking Reassign each time fixes them. In case the settings have been corrupted, it might be a good idea to delete the control surface and then add it again. eieio
Still nothing unfortunately. Is the AC-7 Pro designed to work only over wifi or will it work over 3G alone? I'm guessing my problem is that. I do not have wifi where I am. I am attempting to run this over 3G only. Is that wrong?

eieio
Ah-ha, and oops! That's what comes with living in the beautiful Tennessee countryside. No wifi, except at Starbucks. I've got 3G on everything. Is there such a thing as a 3G controller out there? How about it cojomo? Can you guys write one up? Thanks for your help and sorry for the head-bump. cojomo
eieio, it still works even if there's no wifi network. Your Macbook Pro has an Airport installed which you can use to create a new wifi connection between the iPad and the Mac. One way to set it up: Go to system preferences... Click on sharing... Click on internet sharing... Choose share my connection from "ethernet" to "airport"... Click the checkbox next to internet sharing to enable it... Now you can connect to this new wifi network on the iPad, and go through the AC-7 setup process. It's actually the best way of connecting to the AC-7... the latency is tiny as there's no router to go through!
eieio
Eureka!! It's absolutely brilliant! Thank you cojomo, you made my day. I'm sure I'll have some operational questions as I go along, but I'm jazzed!
anti-banausic
Sorry for the hijack, but thought it better than starting a new thread. I think I have everything setup correctly, aside from a few quirks, when I start from a new template. However, if I open any older track, it simply does not update the information on the iPhone, and I can't access many of the parameters. Is there something I am missing? I also seem to be getting a nasty midiloop when trying to change banks of faders on the AC-7. Help. This seems really cool.
cojomo
Hmm... there can't be a midi loop but I've heard reports that Midipipe sometimes reports one and stops working. Luckily I've now figured out how to get it working without Midipipe. The website will be updated in a few hours with the new instructions, but in the meantime... I've been experimenting with a little helper app made for use with DP... and it works great with Logic too. It means there's no need for midipipe anymore. Download it from here: http://jacklinstudios.com/downloads/DP-AC7-DSMidiWifi-Bridge.html When you run it the first time, it asks you to locate the DSMidiwifi application. In future, you only need to run the helper app....it starts DSMidiwifi automatically. In Logic, set DSMidiwifi OUT as the output and DSMidiwifi OUT as the input too. Sounds strange but it works. If you need any more help, it's probably best to get in touch directly via the Saitara support email address Cheers
