argydubbaya
Sure would be good to transfer xyz.cfs files originally recorded on my Yammy AW4416 into Logic. I have failed to transfer these files into Cubase and Sonar. Perhaps the solution is a time consuming reasl time transfer of all tracks in for all recorded files. Proverbial Pain in xyzs. Any solutions out there? File > Project Settings >

File > Project Settings > Hi there ex AW4416 user here...8) I know there is a utility, that extracts the tracks, from backups..there was always one around for PC, but I know now there is one for MAC...just cant remember the name atm...if you want it I could find it.. but, the best way, is 8 or 16 tracks at a time, via 1 or 2 MY8-AT cards respectively. You could do 2 at a time via SPDIF and manual slip the tracks...which you will have to do if you do 8 tracks anyways... depends on time, budget and existing gear etc cheers Wiz
argydubbaya
Thanks, That was quick. I do have a single MY8 AT tho my Macbook doesn't have a optic input. Any further ideas? Also any ideas how I can save the contents of a single project onto a DVD, ie all tracks, fx, and automation for future reference etc. Thanks Again

I dont think you can use DVD on the AW only Cd. If you backup the song to CD, all that stuff you mentioned is saved... cheers Wiz
fivespotrecords
It's been a long time since I used the Yamaha AW16 but I will try to remember. The way I did an export was burn the individual tracks of the session/song all to the same CD with the burner on the Yamaha, then would manually import them into Pro Tools from the CD I had burnt. Then line them up manually. If it was a large session with many tracks it would sometimes take 2 discs. Refer to the user manual, but I seem to recall it being under session->export on the lcd screen of the AW16 Hope that helps.
ReinMan
Hi - this is an alternative, but it depends if you can get your hands on a AW2400 machine. (I was a happy 4416 dude and then moved up to AW2400 before finally finding some LOGIC in my life. ) The 2400 easily imports tracks from your 4416 BackupDisks. Once in 2400 you can (VIA USB, which is very nice! ) export all the tracks, on a per song basis, at once as WAV files. Then it is fairly simple to drop them all into an open LOGIC template and away you go - they will all be aligned in a happy and somewhat musical way (assuming the original tracks were musical ) Anyway, I know this is a long shot, but if you can rent a AW2400 somewhere for a day you could back up all your 4416 tunes and then you'd be good to go. Hope this is somewhat helpful! ReinEar
mejon
When I transferred all of my old AW4416 sessions, it was through the Waves Y56k card that gave the unit adat in/out. With only 8 tracks at a time, I had to do multiple passes for songs that had larger track counts. For each pass one of the 8 tracks was a printed click track which served as an alignment tool once everthing was in the DAW (Pro Tools at that time) A long shot too, but, perhaps you could rent a Y56k card for your unit? chuckerst
Could someone PLEASE help me with a Yamaha AW4416optical out connection-I have purchased the in/out ADAT card to go into a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 via lightpipe-then into my desktop via firewire-I cannot get a signal from the Yammie into the Focusrite-Those of you that have used the Waves card-is there a setting on the Yammie I have to make or is it just plug and play? I cannot figure this out at all and would really appreciate some help! Thanks
Wizozland
You have to set up the routing. Its certainly not plug and play. You would have to route what you want, to come out of the AW4416 via ADAT. You could also go via SPDIF, or indeed via the OMNI Outs as well. I don't use my AW4416 much anymore, but I still have some tutorial videos up on my you tube page http://www.youtube.com/user/wizofozland?feature=watch there is also a still active yahoo group for the AW4416 yahoogroups.com/aw4416 join that then in the files section of that group is a myriad of help documents assembled over the last 14 years cheers Wiz
