Mackie Control/OSX User account fix update (attn Fader 8)

Recommended Posts

Ok so i made a new User account and my Mackie Control is working fine.

I tranferred my projects etc to the shared area so its accessible by all.

I'm using the new account now, so should i delete the previous one ? Its becoming a bit confusing to manage.

Or should we try to find what files in the last user account were causing the mackie control to malfunction.

How should i proceed,

This is a new machine for me, so i'd like to keep it streamlined as far as folders, accounts etc go.

Thanks

faisal,

If I were in your shoes, I'd try and find out what was causing the problem in the original account. At least you have a working config to compare to now, and you know the hardware is OK. It's certainly in your best interest to find out why the problem occurs, otherwise it's likely to happen as easily again with the new account.

The first thing you could do is add your Logic version and system info to your signature: Read Me Before Posting - Forum Guidelines (#5), so that we might have some clue how to help.

If you've tried deleting prefs, etc., the likely culprit might be some old MIDI driver that's causing a conflict. Any M-Audio or Digidesign drivers floating around on your Mac?

I'm on Logic Pro 9.1.1 and OSX 10.6.3.

Apologies, when i wrote ATTN fader 8, i meant 45RPM. Not that i dont want your help, but 45RPM made a detailed thread about exactly this issue where creating another user account sorted the mackie control out.

But as u own mackie controls yourself, your help is highly appreciated as well.

Just to recap:

Logic Control now upgraded to Mackie Control, latest firmware.

This unit used to behave the same with Logic 7.0 on Tiger 10.4 on a G5.

It moves the playhead erratically and the zoom/scrub/play/stop lights start going crazy.

Creating new account sorted it out for the time being. So its something which is common in both systems, old and new. I have the AMT8 driver which came with the Logic 9.1.1 cd.

No M-Audio or Digi drivers on my system.

Thanks

While it narrows down the field, it still doesn't tell you what's causing it.

There are 2 versions of "latest". Which do you have?

Which version is that? This one:

Novation? CME? Yamaha? Anything?

I am unsure about the AMT8 driver, it is the latest one however, as i recently updated it.

Novation Automap Pro 3.4.1 with Zero SL mk2 and Launchpad. Problem was there even before i got these.

M-Audio Axiom 49, no drivers installed though.

NI Maschine 1.5, NI Service Center.

Mackie Control issue was there even b4 i installed any of these.

Update:

Today the Mackie Control acted up even in the new user account. So pissed off.

Yesterday it was fine.

However, this was after i changed permissions for most of my folders.

The different accounts were confusing and i could not access data in the alternate user account's folders. So i allowed Read and Write access for both accounts and all folders.

Interestingly, the Mackie Control runs just fine with Ableton live 8. No issues at all.

But it acts up in Logic.........

Any ideas ??

I am so close to dumping it now and going for a Euphonix Artist series.
