jamie8286
Hi guys im looking at buying a mic for general use recording vocals, sounds and recording percussion loops rides, cymbals etc as my friends a drummer. I probably only want to spend around £100 and iv been looking at the sure sm57/sm58 range as there the only ones iv really heard about. Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction as im not sure what i should be looking for. cheers Jamie
triplets
Try the V87 from MXL for a large condenser type. Try the Fox from MXL for a dynamic type. They are very affordable and sound great for what you pay.
jamie8286
Cool i'll look into these what is the difference in the two mic types? is one better for one thing and the other better for another? Or would one be suitable for for more types of recording? thanks
triplets
Dynamic mics are typically used for electric guitars, snares, and very loud things, they can handle that. Condensers are more sensitive and pick up way more but can distort quicker. Used for vocals, acoustic guitars, drum overheads, room mics.
