BennyFromXXX
Hi everybody. Ok. I'm looking for great Orchestra sounds. There are quite some options that i can choose from. What do you guys use? What are the benefits of that program you use? I want...well...the power to make complex pieces if i want too. And......'easy to understand' software please. I hate.... badly writen user guides....sigh..... I really need a solid package. Suggestions please? Bowing in advance.
David Nahmani
Sonic Implants are pretty amazing. Those are the same sounds as Giga Sampler, they have the collection for EXS24. That's what I use mainly, and also MOTU Symphonic for punchy strings, and also EWQLSO which is good but pretty dry. I have yet to try Kirk Hunter's Emerald library that I hope to install soon. I have never owned VSL.

In temrs of versatiliuty and quality Viena, EWPLSO and S.I. are all terrific but pricey. The Kirk Hunter Emerald is a fine sounding, versatile package at an affordable price. But what makes all of them versatile and good is that they have a lot of articulations and there is no way for you to short cut the work required to get familiar with them. Kirk has set up Logic templates that he includes to make it easier but there is still going to be a learning curve.
BennyFromXXX
Those included templates sound good. I will check the Kirk Hunter Emerald Library. Anything that makes the learning curve less steep is a good thing for me. Thanx guys!

Once again, Benny (and I am sorry if I am coming across as a scolding teacher but you need to be told the truth) mastering this stuff, no matter which you choose, is a LOT of hard work and if you aren't willing to do it your music will sound crummy no matter which libraries you choose. 10% inspiration, 90% perspiration is a rule of thumb for getting really good at anything musical. I think I will add to my signature "there are no shortcuts." End of lecture:)
BennyFromXXX
No problem. It's good that you say it the way it is. I wouldn't want it any other way. I know this stuff isn't easy. But i think that it is one of the good things about making music. There are no shortcuts........except keyboard shortcuts.
morganmd
I'm thinking about buying MOTU Symphonic. Does anyone know how this compares to say... Garritan?
cyril
If you are poor : a very good price for money (99$) is to buy the GarageBand Jam Pack: Symphony Orchestra As well with Garage band loops you have all the instruments in EXS24 format If you are rich : buy VSL it's 11 000 $
