theambertheatre
Anyone else experiencing spinning beachballs and long pauses eg 20sec when deleting and loading Kontakt 4.1.3 banks? What could be causing this?
Scotty Ferguson
Same here. Kontakt 4.2.2 running inside Vienna Ensemble Pro. Removing banks takes a lot of beachballing indeed. EDIT/SOLUTION: load your multi in standalone Kontakt (not as a plugin). Remove your banks and do your edits. Save the new multi and reload it where needed. fader8
Does this happen only when loading banks and not when loading multi instrument sets?
Scotty Ferguson
It happens, on my side, when *removing* banks from a multi. I think it might be related to the way Kontakt frees up memory. It takes just as long when you removing instruments from within banks one at a time. If you load your multi from scratch in a standalone Kontakt player, the samples take a while to load (unless you're on a SSD...) and you can quickly remove the banks without waiting for the memory cleanup. I'm not sure that's the real reason, but I can confirm that this method works.
fader8
Yeah, in general I've noticed that any serious "editing" task in Kontakt is much quicker if you do it in stand-alone. Maybe because it doesn't have to ask the host app to reorganize its memory?
