Rydizzle
Hey guys, here's what I'm trying to do. I have I recorded that I want to "connect" to the next track on my album. Meaning that the first track rings out into the second so when you listened to it ont the album there would be no gap just the track would change. So would I just record the second one within that same project and leave the splitting up to the mastering stage? Also the first song used almost 90 tracks with a lot of plugins so I don't really have any power left so should I use the freeze track function on the previous tracks when I'm satisfied on the mix? Last question is the second song is a different tempo then the first so when the instruments ring out into the second track will progamming a tempo change cause them to time stretch or something that causes them to sound strange? All right that's it guys thank you.
redlogic
So would I just record the second one within that same project and leave the splitting up to the mastering stage? Record the second song as a new separate Project.
Rydizzle
Sorry I think you misunderstood me, my post was a little confusing, My first song rings out into the second, so when you were listening there would be no gap between tracks just the track name would change. So should I record the second in the same project still?
MarkLambert
Unless the two songs are very similar in track count and actual sounds, like the same drum kit, bass, gtrs, vocals and so on , it's probably better to keep the songs as two separate projects. If you are having someone else do the mastering they can easily "overlap" the ending and beginning of the two songs. If you are doing your own mastering try using Wave Burner. It was included with your Logic suite It is a very powerful mastering tool and also easy to use. ml
David Nahmani
I agree with Mark, record the two songs in separate projects. You'll take care of the crossfade when Mastering your CD.
Rydizzle
Ok thanks guys, so since the first song's ending has a bass note that comes in for the last four bars that then extends for the whole duration of the second song How do I start the second song with a bass note that is allready triggered? Sorry if I'm not making sense I can post a screenshot if that would clarify.
MikeyC
You could cut the bass note in the first song at the point where the second one will begin and paste the part to the right of the cut to the beginning of the second song. If you can work on the second song without hearing the bass note, you can do what David said and crossfade during mastering.
David Nahmani
Yup, your choice, is either make the first song 4 minutes longer just to get that bass note sustain, and deal with the crossfade at mastering (that's probably what I'd do), or follow Mikey's suggestion and cut the sustained bass note and move it to the second song. But then it may be a bit trickier to crossfade the songs later, depending on how they're built...
