donsonic Posted November 14, 2010 Share Posted November 14, 2010 LPH Members, Could you help me to get my Apple Loops to play in the loops browser window? I transfered Logic 9 onto a new HD and everything is working except for Apple Loops not playing in the browser when you click on the file. If you drag it over into the Arrange Window it plays fine... but need files to play in Loop Browser to preview the many loop files. Erased out old Apple Loops Index and dragged Apple loops to browser. Repaired permissions. Loops show up... but do not play at all in browser window. HELP ! donsonic Posted November 14, 2010 Author Share Posted November 14, 2010 David, Tried everything you mentioned... one hint for you... I know that the loops are playing both when I double click and use space bar... because the CPU window registers activity when a file is played then returns to zero ! Just not getting any audio output even when the speaker volume is maxed. Transferred Logic files by hand to a new HD without using disks to reinstall. EVERYTHING works except that loop audio output is not playing from the browser. When you drag files into arrange they play... But need the capability to play loops in browser... over 20,000 files to audition. D, I am also D... thanks a million into your pocket for sharing... If that doesn't help then do this: Open the Mixer and click the "All" button at the top. Find the audio channel strip called "Prelisten". Prelisten had a red slash through the solo button... clicked it a couple of times... looks like it was stuck... What does the red diagonal slash mean/do? I've seen it a few times before and it caused a few problems with tracks not playing/having any output. D, You're da MAN! David Nahmani Posted November 15, 2010 Share Posted November 15, 2010 That's "solo safe" and it should be on for both the click and the prelisten channel strips. You can toggle it by control-clicking the solo button. When on, the channel strip should continue playing even if you solo other channel strip(s). Glad to hear you fixed it either way! Desmund Posted March 26, 2022 Share Posted March 26, 2022 I have exactly the same issue on Logic Pro 10.5.1. I've followed all the suggestions above and have not managed to fix the issue. I can see the preview channel, and it had solo with red slash across it which I've removed and still no luck. Loops play fine on their own, but not when I run them while playing the track. I have noticed though if I remove the output and input which is pointing to my interface (Scarlet 6i6) and have the output and input device set as the Built-In it works! But this is not much use to me, I really need my interface to be able to listen to and preview loops. I've attached a basic project that has the issue. defmuse Posted April 2, 2022 Share Posted April 2, 2022 Oddly enough, I am experiencing the same exact issue (as Desmund above) right now, in Logic 10.6.3. I went into my mixer, and made sure my "Preview" Channel didn't have the solo button slashed, but that didn't help. Basically, when I play my session & want to preview any loops, none of the loops play. If I stop my session & play the loops by themselves, they work, and I see/hear the audio coming through the Preview channel. But this doesn't occur while my session is playing. Is there something I am missing or not doing? My loops were working perfectly fine a few days ago (when I previewed 100's), so I am not sure what I've done to mess this up. What I am working with: Apple iMac (10.15.7), Logic 10.6.3, and a Focusrite Saffire Pro 26. Note: I've opened other song sessions, and the loops work fine. So obviously I've obliviously changed some setting in this particular session that has muted the loops. UPDATE: I opened a bunch of other sessions, all of which were working fine. I noticed that ALL the "prelisten/preview" channels had their solo buttons with the red slash, and all working fine. After that, I opened my session in question, and all of a sudden the loops were playing along with the session again. Go figure! Any professional opinions about this?
