Logicno8
I heard a producer, in a studio I'm working at currently, said today "that mixer has 16 mono, 4 stereo and 16 digital channels". I can't say I remembered accurate number of all of these channels but anyways, my point (and my question) is not about that anyway. I don't understand what digital channels are suppose to carry. Mono channels would be for mono signals (guitars, voice, drum pieces, trumpet). (Although all of these could be recorded as stereo as well I know) Stereo channels are I guess for stereo microphones or 2 mics routed to one stereo channel (maybe overheads) Aux tracks are always stereo and for sends. Now, I would like to know, what are digital channels for ? Thanks guys.
David Nahmani
I've never heard of a digital channel. Maybe he meant digital I/Os? Aux tracks are always stereo No, they're mono by default (in Logic) but you can make them stereo if you want.
ski
What mixer is it? Brand and model please...
Logicno8
Sorry guys I guess I misunderstood this guy (or he said it wrong because we were in a rush). David...If YOU never heard of it I guess it doesn't exist Yes, digital I/O's. What are they used for? That was what I wanted to ask I didn't know that AUX's are mono. I don't know why I assumed they are stereo. Maybe because when I send something to them I usually put stereo delay, reverb or stereo FX in general so they automatically appear as stereo. ski...Not sure, but for this question it doesn't really matter since I only want to know what digital I/O's are for. ski
Doesn't matter? Hmmm... OK, you said: I heard a producer, in a studio I'm working at currently, said today "that mixer has........ So my thinking is this... if we knew what mixer he was talking about we could probably explain why it had digital channels, and what they were for... Hey, just sayin'... What I meant by "doesn't matter" was that he wanted to tell me how versatile that mixer is and I didn't know what are digital I/O's . I just wanted to know if anyone have mixer (any mixer) with this kind of I/O's , what does he/she plugs in this I/O's.
