kookamunga
Hello there, i use MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo Processor Speed 2.66 GHz Memory 4GB Logic Pro 9.0 Line 6 TonePort Interface Whenever i record audio, like vocals or guitar, they playback totally out of time. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow, sometimes they play back early or late, sometimes the pitch has been shifted because they have been speeded up so much. Ive had my Mac/ Logic for about 6 months, but this has started happening in like the last 2 weeks. I've tried managing my buffer size, but to no avail. I've tried clearing stuff out to make more memory but nothing is working.
waters
thats weird, have you made sure logic and your sound card are at the same sample rate and bit rate? all i know is if you record something in say 16 bit and it switches to 24 bit then it will play an octave up and vice versa, maby this has something to do with it? kookamunga
Hey waters, thanks for getting back to me man. i have to confess that i don't really know how to check if the sample/ bit rates are the same, if you could let me know that would be great. i haven't changed anything like that so i can only presume that they are, but it would be great to find out. thanks again for getting back to me. Sorry, but this is not so. Altering the bitdepth will NOT alter pitch or speed. Altering the samplefrequency will, though. Doubling the samplefrequency (like 48 KHz to 96 KHz) will pitch down one octave.
kookamunga
thanks guys. the pitch changing is not quite as drastic as octaves, its more like a slight chipmunk effect, which happens less frequently. the main problem i have is that usually the audio is fine in terms of pitching, however i must manually drag the regions into time because they are playing back either early or late, if you know what i mean. the wave forms are there but they do not fall into the time in which they were played. it's like latency but it only occurs during playback, its weird. waters
yeah sorry eriksimon is right it is the bit depth, and what is happening sounds like it is a different thing anyway...... sorry but i'm not sure how to fix you problem, do you have apple support? they should be able to help you fix it?
