LSMH
Hey guys, I dont know if this has been asked before (at least I couldn't find it). I currently trying to figure out a way to play bass drops while i'm drumming on stage. Buying a separate drum computer and then figuring out how to put the bass drop on it seems like a little to much effort and money for me. I am however in possession of an M-Audio Firewire 1814 (has 1 x 1 MIDI I/O) and a new macbook pro with logic pro 9.0 running on it. All I would then have to purchase it a cheap drum pad. Now I was just wondering if this was even a possibility and if it is how I would go about setting it up to trigger the bass drop in logic. Thanks in advance. -Max

beej
Yes, buy a controller that will do the job, connect it's MIDI out to the MIDI in on your computer/interface, select an appropriate instrument in Logic and make sure you are triggering the right note value - it's basic stuff. If you want a cheap drum pad, then any toy ones with a MIDI out will do, or some kind of drum MIDI controller. If you want something a bit more pro, then e-drums come in a wide variety of configs and price tags. Pro pads themselves don't output MIDI, they need to be connected to a brain and that's a whole pricier system and overkill for your needs. Have a nose around the electronic percussion section of your local friendly online music store, and see whether anything grabs your attention. But yes, Logic can play samples or instruments via MIDI just fine, it's a basic core function, which as you already bought LP9 you should know
