fuzzfilth
Welcome. What about checking the documentation first, which is pretty thorough, extensive and searchable ? Also, this forum is searchable. So before asking for the 1001st time why your mixes are so quiet or why your beatz don't swing like MC Brizzibizzi's MPC does, try a search. Other than that, welcome. Rav
Thank You Fuzzfilth, Appreciate your advice I was also thinking of purchasing Apple Pro Training Series (logic Pro 9) to help me get started.
DeeEllKay
Thank You Fuzzfilth, Appreciate your advice I was also thinking of purchasing Apple Pro Training Series (logic Pro 9) to help me get started. Definitely worth it. If you're getting the Apple Pro Training Series Logic 9 and Express 9 book then probably pick up the Apple Pro Training Series Advanced Logic book too. The first book really only covers basics and a little more. You'll need advanced if you want to fully get to grips with Logic. Both excellent books though. Kent Sandvik
Yes, as mentioned, if you take the effort to read the documentation and then post questions style: "I read the chapter on Space Designer but I'm still not sure how to get IR impulses installed properly, tried to do it but I failed miserably" then you will get both respect and responses. Thanks DeeEllKay and Kent Sandvik. I wil definitely read the books before posting questions. I have also heard the Groove 3 Logic Explained 9 Video Tutorial is good. Would you use this or just read the books? Many Thanks Rav
Kent Sandvik
Good! I forgot to mention that the more specific you are when posting questions on the forum, the better chance to untangle the mystery behind the issues. In other words, if you explain the workflow step-by-step, it's much easier to understand what's really going on. To start with, go to your preferences and insert your computer/Logic setup, your OS version and Logic version so it's automatically included in each posting. DeeEllKay
I have also heard the Groove 3 Logic Explained 9 Video Tutorial is good. Would you use this or just read the books? Rav Not heard of this one so can't comment. TBH videos are great on the face of it but I've always found books a better learning tool. I always zone out if I'm watching a video. Sat reading a book and doing exercises keeps me more alert. Having said that there are some great tutorial videos about, some guy has done a great 9 part tutorial on the ES2 synth in Logic available on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2aXeLRltG8) goes into more detail than even the Apple Pro Train Series advanced book does. David Nahmani
Hello Rav, and welcome here. I have also heard the Groove 3 Logic Explained 9 Video Tutorial is good. Would you use this or just read the books? I wrote that book so it's hard for me to be objective. Honestly I don't know the Groove 3 videos but I believe they're made by Eli and Doug, two very respectable members of our little community here, so I'm sure they're good. What I can tell you is that a LOT went into making the book I wrote. It's also the official curriculum Apple Authorized Training Centers throughout the world teach to lead to the Apple Certification level 1 for Logic Pro. So you can imagine that together with Apple we spent quite a bit of time thinking this over and crafting the exercises, the topics and the way to present them. If you go to the book's Amazon page you can read through some of the reviews...: Logic Pro 9 and Logic Express 9, by David Nahmani - Apple Pro Training Series @ Amazon.com Another thing is, if you have questions while doing some of the exercises in my book, you can ask me directly about them in this very forum. Thank You for the feedback, I will try to use David's book on it's own to see how I get on. Might be better to use one thing at a time so it doesn't get to confusing. Will go though it step by step. David Nahmani
Great, I'm sure you'll love it. And don't hesitate if you have any questions, just post them in the "Logic" forum. Enjoy the book!
