Recording CC events in logic 9

Hello,

I might have asked this question in my previous post. I need your help as i'm still struggling to get the CC events recorded.

I have got Axiom Pro 61. I have assigned knob 1 for Cutoff (general purpose 2 - 17). when i turn the knob while playing the loop, i can feel the changes in the sound. When i hit the record button and turn the knob, i can still hear the change, but when i try to play it back, i get to hear the sound produced by the knob in its last position.

The CC events are just not getting recorded. Need some help desperately.

I used the 'Command L' option. went to the learning mode...turned the Cutoff control in Logic's EXS and then turned a knob in Axiom Pro 61.

I'm using EXS.

Once you've assigned knobs they control the parameter directly, so you no longer can record the MIDI CC data, instead you're recording the parameter automation as we discussed in your previous thread.

 

If you want to record MIDI CC data it cannot be assigned to anything. But then it may not be controlling what you want.

 

Any particular reason why you don't want to work with track automation?

There is no reason for not using the track automation.

I was told by a friend that CC events can be recorded. Looks like i miss interpreted it.

I have got another problem now.

I used the 'Midi Monitor' to determined the CC event numbers. First it used to show me (For EXS's Cutoff) Ch 1, 17. And for a while i could change all the parameters using hyper draw. And suddenly it stopped working. So I reassigned the knobs. now for the same parameter i'm getting the values as CH 16, 17.

You can definitely record MIDI CC, you just need to have your controller spit out that MIDI CC, and in Logic, to not assign it to anything. If the plug-in reacts to that MIDI CC then it will work.

That's odd. Mine shows a Fader event, channel 2, #25. Fader events are not the same as MIDI CC, so the easiest way is to learn the control surface knob and record its movements as track automation.
