HMayoral
Howdy yall! I've reached a choral section of this piece I'm composing, and there are five voices moving harmonically with in one track (Just a bunch o' whole notes), is there a quick way to separate them into their own track, if note, how would you do it? HMayoral
I just did it pretty quickly, I just used hot keys to select the upper and lower melodies of the chords, and the shift+invert feature, took less than a minute.
Alan Shields
Thanks for updating your post with your solution. That method is a pretty good way of doing that and is one I suggested in a previous post. I also made a second suggestion that the poster liked better. You can check it out here, you may find it better. HTH, Alan.
HMayoral
I imagine it's because of the updates (they change stuff around I guess) I had to do it slightly differently: In the editor of your choice select all the notes (command+A) then go to Functions > Note Events > Voices to channels. that. I did that, so it's still good, now: Then in the Arrange go to Regions > Split/Demix > Demix By Event Channels. Done. In my Logic, it's not split/demix, it's just Split. I had to go to the Split> Split Regions by Locators and then I went to MIDI> Separate MIDI Events> By Event Channel (or more simply control+click the region> Separate by MIDI Channel. How I said, I imagine it's an update thing though I think the way you proposed would be a little simpler because with this new way I have to do an extra task while with the split/demix, I only have two tasks. Thanks for the help! My "select upper and lower melodies" method is primitive in comparison with this one!

As to which method is better? It depends on what you're trying to do. You seemed to work it out fine and Now you have another option. Best of luck, Alan.
