Nice_Nigel
Hi everyone, I've posted on here a few times about my situation with trying to use Logic with the Pro Tools audio interface. The recording studio where I work has the Pro Tools HD2 system with 2 Digidesign 192 audio interfaces. The studio also has Logic Pro 9 and as I run Logic in my home studio setup I thought it would be useful to try and get Logic working at the studio so I can work on projects on my home system too. Some people on here made a few suggestions on reading material which I've now read and have got Logic Pro to run a lot better in the studio. My main problem now is that when I take the projects home and open them on my mac using Logic Express I can't get them to play back. They open fine, the playback bar moves across the audio but no sound comes out (and no sound is shown in the mixer window either). I'm really tearing my hair out on this and can't find anything useful online I've also upgraded my home system to Logic Express 9 but to no avail. if anyone has any suggestions at all or can point me in the direction of some more reading on the subject then I'd be incredibly grateful. Jordi Torres
First since to check is your audio preferences in Logic. Is your audio interface the active core audio device? J.
Nice_Nigel
Yes it is enabled. When I made the recordings I had Core Audio, DAE and Direct TDM enabled in preferences (although I've subsequently read that Logic performs better when using the Digidesign hardware if Core Audio isn't enabled). When I open the project in Logic Express 9 at home I only have the option of core audio (which is enabled) I'm not sure if this is because it's Logic Express (rather than Pro) or because the Digidesign hardware is not available. Thanks, Nige
Nice_Nigel
Sorry I don't think I quite answered you question. When I open Preferences, Audio I've tried setting the Output Device and Input Device to built in input and output and to that of my audio interface but that didn't make a difference. Amin Bhatia
A long time ago (Logic 5) you had to reassign audio objects in the environment window to change them from Core Audio to TDM. Perhaps that requirement still exists in later versions. BTW It was frustrating and I gave up this process in favor of just exporting in Logic and reimporting in PT. Good luck. Nice_Nigel
Thanks, I'll give that a try. btw, is there an easy way to open a Pro Tools session in Logic? If so I could record and do the basic editing and drop ins in Pro Tools then export it to Logic to use on my home system, Cheers, Nige

Amin Bhatia
Glad it worked. This forum has saved me so many times it's great to give back. As to PT and Logic opening each other's sessions, world peace is easier! Have a good weekend! A
