djpuzzle
Hi all, I created a new EXS patch today. Loaded in my own waveform and added a filter, LFO, etc. Everything sounds great, turned out exactly how it should BUT when I load the patch it doesn't load the settings just the waveform. I have to also load a .pst file to get the settings back. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for the help.

There were some versions in which setting-recall was buggy. Please read our Forum Guidelines, especially item #5, so that your system's info will appear in each of your posts. Once we know what version of Logic you're running we can proceed with helping you out.

Using verison 9.1.
ski
Thanks. Still, it's best if you include that information in your user profile (see the guidelines, #5). That saves you the trouble of typing it all the time and lets anyone trying to help you know where you're at system-wise. OK, couple of things... First, after you loaded in the waveform, did you save the instrument itself? (An EXS sound consists of two parts -- the instrument and the settings.) If you only saved the instrument then your settings would not be automatically saved to it. You have to use the function "save settings to instrument" or actually save the sound via the EXS's settings menu. Another thing... did you use that instrument in a project already? If so, the settings should be automatically saved as part of the project data (just like you can set an EQ and not have to explicitly save its settings to recall them when you re-load the project). If this is the case, go back to that song and save the settings via one of the methods I described above. Now you should be able to recall that entire sound (settings and all) in other songs. Thanks for the quick reply. I know I'm thick but I could not find the edit user profile panel to add that info. I can view my profile info though. So here is what I just did. 1) Opened the Logic song. 2) Checked to make sure settings were correct and they were. 3) Saved settings to instrument (overwrite) 4) Save instrument as (replace) 5) Open a new session 6) Load EXS24 7) Refresh Menu 8) Loaded my patch Same results. Waveforms and, panning, tuning, and what not all loaded except for the settings used ie LFO, Filter, ENV, etc
David Nahmani
I could not find the edit user profile panel to add that info. Unless you're using Google Chrome, that information is in the link ski provided you. I'll give you the shortcut: http://www.logicprohelp.com/profile.php?mode=editprofile
ski
Hi DJ, I have to say, I'm stumped... OK, try one more thing with that same instrument in the project in which it recalls correctly: save the settings using the EXS's settings menu. See if that makes the patch any more recallable in another project.

Ok so here is something even more strange.... So this time I followed the same steps except I name the patch something different and the settings loaded properly BUT it shows up in my browser as the name I gave it but in the window above the filter it says Piano & Strings Layer and it looked like it was loading a bunch of other wav files even though I don't hear them in my patch and they don't show up in the groups. At least I'm one step closer to the goal here so thanks guys. The patch settings are now loading. Now to figure out what that Piano & Strings Layer name is all about. I mean I want to say it was a user error and it could partly be my fault but I'm kinda leaning towards something buggy getting stuck in there somewhere. Anyway keep up the good work and see you in Anaheim in Jan!
