ILok and not enough usb drives

Recommended Posts

Ok so I went out on black friday and found a good deal on an ilok and Waves Musicians Bundle 2. I havent opened either because I want to inquire with my fellow Logicmen and women on my dilemma

According to Guitar Center, in order to use any Waves bundle on an Apple, you have to have an ILok in your usb ports at all times. I only have 2 USB ports on my Macbook. One is used for my midi keyboard, the other for my ext hard drive that houses large sound libraries like Omnisphere. Is it possible to grab whatever makes the Ilok work off the physical drive and mount it to a virtual drive so its always on my computer? I see no other way UNLESS someone knows how to use Waves Bundles without The Ilok. And on that note, now that i have a physical ilok can it be used with any Waves Bundle that I might have 'borrowed" from a peer of, mine?

I've lost track of how many conversations I've had with plug-in representatives as trade shows where I've stated that stupid software locks will not stop pirates from breaking their code and just make life miserable for the paid customers.....

There are trillions of better ways to stop pirating of SW, or at least make life miserable for the pirates and those using stolen SW rather than for the paid users. A simple bake-in email address with variable location inside the binary in combination with an online purchase would be far better.
