Logicno8
I'm making some songwriting templates and I want to include various Amp simulators into my Rock/Metal template. So, I decided to have 3 folders for electric guitar and 1 for bass guitar at that particular template. RHYTHM, LEAD and CLEAN folders for electric guitar containing these kind of presets and different bass amp presets in BASS folder. I'm using Amplitube 3 and Guitar Rig mainly but others as well. Now...because I have, say, 15-20 audio channels carrying plugins divided into these folders I'm getting stuck with memory (especially knowing that I load up some drums plugins with every template, like SD 2.0 for example). Now I would love to know if there is any benefit from turning OFF these plugins before using it ? If I bypass them will I get Logic releasing used RAM memory for these tracks (they are empty, of course at the beginning of any session, no regions) ? Thanks

You'll have to unload (choose No Plug-in) to reclaim RAM. But even then it hardly has an impact, unless it is a Software Instrument using lots of samples. I just unloaded ten insert plugins from a project, and my RAM meters indicate I now have 1708 MB free, it was 1707...

So I guess I'll have to narrow my amp folder pallet How can you see used RAM ? I know about that CPU/DISK Logic meter but how exactly do you check your used RAM status ? Install either (or both, no conflict) of these two utilities: http://www.pure-mac.com/diag.html#istatmenus http://www.pure-mac.com/diag.html#menumeters Both free! Looks like this: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5124/5225977937_72699d57d1_z.jpg Used/Free RAM - Paging activity - (Timemachine) - 4 core temperatures and 2 disk temperatures - (Displays) - Network upload/download activity - 4 CPU monitors - (Eject/Language/Volume/Date & Time/Spotlight)
