BarrieB
Anybody else get a Logic crash when importing audio files to a project? Doesn't always happen, but I've had it when dragging a file into arrange or audio bin, and also when importing a file in the bin in the 'add new audio file' way. It's quite possible that I'm pushing Logic hard anyway at this point, some projects have a lot going on - but I wouldn't have expected that to affect audio. Never had this before 9 as far as I can remember (long time Logic addict here) I can't obviously see any other reference to this on the forum, so excuse me if it's been discussed before. best Barrie
triplets
Never had that happen to me. But I use a mac pro and there's plenty of juice. So it really depends on the project and your setup, which you didn't specify.
David Nahmani
I haven't had that problem, but ... what kind of audio files are you importing, what format, what app created them, and how long are they? Is it always with the same type of audio files, or is it kinda random on just about any kind of audio file of any length? One thing you can try is to trash the Logic preferences - obviously you'll lose all your custom preferences (including key commands). 1) Quit Logic. 2) Move ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.plist to your Desktop. 3) Restart Logic. See if that helps.
BarrieB
Thankyou both guys for getting back. Classic lack of basic information, sorry! In this particular case I was reworking an older project for a client - made in my pre intel G5 in Logic 7 or 8 - can't remember. I got all the instrument plug ins up and running (replacing a couple that don't run any more on the intel) and when I went to find the .aif audio files that were now on a different drive (just short effects not extensive vocal takes - and at same sample rate as project) by clicking on the region and using the directory, the minute I highlit the relevant files Logic crashed each time, for each file. Also when trying to import in the bin and when dragging. Got there in the end one at a time and a lot of furious saving! Now, this might be because it's an old project in a newer computer, but I'm pretty sure I've had this problem more recently. I guess I'll wait for another incident and get some more info for you. Current system - OSX 10.6.4 2x2.93 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 12 GB 1066 Mhz DDR3 thanks again, Barrie
triplets
Is that external drive formatted in FAT32 by any chance? If yes, it has to be reformatted to Mac OSX Extended. Logic doesn't like FAT32.
BarrieB
Interesting triplets, I will check. The Audio drive is internal and was installed with (at the same time) Logic by a top supplier here in UK, so I hope not but you never know!! Thanks!! I to have never had this problem b4 and im working with the same setup everyday on various projects. It also is intermittent. Any ideas?
