Logic Keeps Crashing...

Hi,

I am currently using a 2.4 Ghz Dore 2 Duo with 4 gigs ram, & logic 8 & an Apogee One.

I am producing a lot of house/trance music, heavy on plugins. For example, my last project contained around 40 tracks, around 5 of which were omnisphere, a few es2s, and a number of exs24s.

I got to the stage with my last project, it just couldn't play it through without getting the following error:

Having a look in the mac's activity meter, I don't understand why this is happening. It would seem that there is plenty of ram! Would this be a problem with the cpu or hard drive?

Does anyone have any opinions on this?

I was going to buy a new Mac Pro, 2.8 Ghz quad core (+ logic 9) with plenty of ram. Is this going to be enough of an upgrade from my current system? Would I be better saving for an 8 core?

The computer is going to be used solely for logic, so I don't know if I can justify the price for an 8 core. I'm no pro, but like all the wannabes, I'd lie something decent!

Thanks

I hadn't no. I had read about freezing, but it would appear that I completely misunderstood what it does.

I'm after just freezing the omnisphere tracks on my latest production, and the cpu bar doesnt go past the 1/2 way mark.

The only problem that I have now is that I don't really need a mac pro any more, and I was looking forward to getting one! lol I probably won't be able to justify the cost now!
