TRUN
Hello guys..... I will be recording electric guitar this weekend direct to Logic with no amp.... Should I be using and active D.I. or a passive D.I. I have a BSS active and a Radial passive, and was not sure which would be best... thanks for the help....I will be patching directly into Logic via the Apogee Mini-Me..... Alan Shields
If you have both on hand why not try them both and see which one you prefer. Passive DIs are fine but some people feel that they loose a bit of top end by using them. If you feel this way go with the active. Use your ears. Alan. TRUN
Great...thanks so much... now how would things change if the guitarist is coming out of a pedalboard at line level? 1/4 ts cables?
El Mustache
after the pedal board i would just use the passive. Since it is coming out line lvle you wont have to worry about the high end signal loss and it is less susceptible to ground loops and such. Alan Shields
Agreed, I often use a passive after my pedals. Alan.
