dualmono
Heya, this is something that I bump into a lot. Lets say I have X regions on a drum track and I want to edit only the bass drums velocity value relative to each event. So I select every region and see all drum events in my piano roll window. Then I click on the note which corresponds to my bass drum events and I see every bass drum note selected in the piano roll window which lets me for example transpose the events up or down. Then I open my Event List window and I see only the bass drum events of the region in which the playhead is in selected. And if I click+drag the velocity value, only the velocity of the bass drum events in the region the playhead is in get changed. How do I change the velocity value of certain events in several seperate regions via the Event List window? I hope I could jump over the language barrier. Thanks for your help! camillo jr
Unlink the Yellow/Purple chain in the event editor. That should allow you to change values in all selected regions at once. Edit: BTW, you can also do this right in the piano roll - IE, changing note positions or velocity across several selected regions.
dualmono
Thanks for your input. But still I am only able to see events from one region in the event list window. Also, in my Piano Roll Window if I select more than one region, I'll only see the Velocity controller events from the last region on my track in my Hyperdraw window (the window that appears when clicking on the small lines with dots at the bottom of the Piano Roll Window), no matter what notes I select in the piano roll window section above the hyper draw. fuzzfilth
Conceptually, you have painted yourself into a corner if you have a) lots of (drum) instruments in one MIDI-Region, b) lots of ocurrences of that (or similar) Regions and c) want to change one thing in all those Regions. The way to correct this now is to click the Track header (which selects all Regions (only in the Cycle range if Cycle is enabled)) and go to MIDI>Transform>one of the presets. Now you can set the Conditions and Operations and process all events in all selected Regions. That's around five or so clicks, so it's perfectly doable. To avoid this, you could use one or more of several strategies: - Merge all Regions on a track. This will give you access to all events at once in the Piano Roll, but destroy your pretty, repetitive arrangement pattern. It will look like a real MIDI recording. Ack ! - MIDI>Separate MIDI Events>by Note Pitch. This will split the Region(s) to one track per pitch. Clicking the kick track will select all Regions, ready to be changed in the Region Parameter Box top left. - Use multiple audio outputs branched out to Auxes and change the audio level of that specific drum. dualmono
Thanks for your help! It seems I have to get used to split the track by pitch (though this gets 'interesting' when I have a HiHat track in which different pitch values are different HiHat states; open, closed, half closed, aso, and I end up with 3+ HiHat tracks). This wouldn't be too bad if we got proper folder tracks, which we don't imho. Jeez... I wonder how other people program drums and keep sane... Feel free to post your approach. dualmono
I just learned, that I could also just use the Velocity Tool in the Piano Roll window. Kudos to zerobeat from the lug forum. That is: 1. Select several regions on a track. 2. Go to the Piano Roll window. 3. Click on the note on the keyboard on the left to choose all events on that note across all the selected regions. 4. Choose the Velocity tool from the Tool pop-up menu. 5. Click and drag on one event to change all velocity values relative to each other. 6. You will see a pop-up window announcing what you change and how much as usual. Posting this for other people who have the same question. Cheers and thanks for your help. dualmono
fuzzfilth
Um, yeah. The Velocity Tool. I have that on right-click for years. I had assumed you had exhausted its possibilities already. Christian
dualmono
Unfortunately I was too much of a noob for that.
