HMayoral
Hello Everyone! How be all of you?... Let's get down to business! I currently have a surround recording which I sliced of a piece and bounced it in place. It's a aif I believe, and I want to reverse this recording to serve as a sort of retrograde at the end of the piece, but I cannot do anyhting to it in the sample editor, the options are faded out. Can anyone help me on this one? Can I reverse this piece, or will I have to find another way to end this experiment of mine?
Jordi Torres
Look for the file you bounced in place in the finder (inside the project's Audio Files folder) and do get info on it (Command+I). See if for some strange reason your user doesn't have write permissions on it. If it doens't change it to "read & write". J.
HMayoral
Hmm. Yeah, it's already in the read and write option for all users. Thanks for trying though!
Jordi Torres
Try converting to a new audio file. J.
HMayoral
Still nothing. Maybe you just can't reverse a surround sound track or something.
Jordi Torres
Hmm, looks like that could be the problem. Insert the Down Mixer plug-in in the Surround master channel and bounce to a stereo file (check the add to audio bin option) and drag it back to the arrange and reverse it. J. triplets
I don't think you can reverse a surround sound file in the Sample Editor. Maybe in Soundtrack Pro.

Cool, you actually nailed that one! Just stuck the audio file in Soundtrack and reversed it... Though isn't it kind of doofusy that you can't do that in Logic with a polyphonic audio recording?? triplets
Maybe it's a feature that not too many people use in Logic. Surround files create havoc in mixes, especially if you don't have a surround setup to mix in.
