dumankai
Hi.I have purchase an i3 imac (21'' 3ghz) running SL 10.6.4 and also Logic studio 9 about 3 months now.Everything i have try to make my setup work with my motu 828mkii usb just fails.I have tried every kind of setting, installed the latest drivers & updates in osx, logic & my soundcard, even reinstalling the entire os and logic9.The problem is in the input section of logic.Except inputs 1&2 logic does not monitor(and record) anything from the rest (3-8 ).I have normal monitoring (sig.levels) and routing from the motu to all outputs(hardware mixer & cuemix) it is just logic9 thats not utilize them.I use the same unit in my old mbp running logic8 under osx 10.5.4 and everything works as a charm. Its been 3 months now i have this issue.Does anyone have an idea to solve this problem out? Many thanks.. triplets
Go to your Motu Audio Setup application and make sure everything's ok there. Then go to Utilities/Audio Midi Setup and check available inputs of the device. If there's no change reset the Motu to factory settings.

I really have been there.Checking and rechecking settings from motu audio setup app & also trying different configurations in audio & midi setup but everything didn't work (including motu factory reset)I suspect that my only option is to try an ''older driver'' for example something for leopard 10.5.x.Maybe the new drivers are optimized for the ''new'' units or it's just another way of motu to say to old hardware users ''buy the new one''.A friend of mine who is considered to be more expert also mentioned the logic9 still has bugs & issues and i should return to logic8
triplets
Your friend is obviously just speculating about Logic 9. I use a Motu Ultralite mk1, the first version that was FW only, in Logic 9 and Snow Leopard and I have no issues whatsoever with the latest drivers. Did you try repairing permissions? Do you have anything else on the USB bus?
David Nahmani
A friend of mine who is considered to be more expert also mentioned the logic9 still has bugs & issues and i should return to logic8 ....logic 8, which didn't have any bugs or issues. Aaaah the magic not-so-distant-past, when everything used to work right away on the first try and problems didn't exist. FWIW I recently hooked up a MOTU 828 (not mk2, not mk3, the original one) with the newest drivers from the MOTU website and it worked flawlessly with Logic 9. Drivers are usually backward compatible, and in the case of MOTU hardware they certainly are. I wish I could point out pilot error but what stops me is the fact that you can make it work perfectly on the macbook. I suppose that means you know exactly how to make it work. Still, MOTU can be a bit confusing when it comes to naming/numbering I/Os. Did you go to the mixer and chose the labels provided by the drive under Options > I/O labels? Which inputs did you try and how did you try them? Another way to test this would be to create one mono audio track for each available input (so if the MOTU has, say, 18 mono inputs, you create 18 mono tracks), click the "I" or the "R" button on all of them, and see if you get any signal at all. dumankai
I really have try everything.I 've been working with logic from 2007 and never encounter in the past something like this.I run all maintenance scripts and repair permissions but nothing changed. The only device i have in the usb bus is motu micro lite for my keyboards and it whatever i have it plugged or not the results are the same.Regarding the mono track test i have already tryied that. to analog inputs nr 3-8 i have normal ''line'' level signals plugged mostly keyboards and e-drums.I can see the level meters working on motu cuemix display and i can listen them to my monitors. In logic i have selected the device under core audio settings and all 8 analog inputs are visible as physical inputs.Except nr 1-2 whitch are fully functional the rest are not routing the sound into logic no matter i select them in my project.By pressing the ''I'' or ''R'' button, having selected for example analog input nr 3, i can hear the instrument i can see the level in motu front panel but in logic nothing is visible in signal monitoring meter or recorded.Same thing happen if channel input selection set to stereo(pair).
