MentalSanityOff
I tracked drums the other day on an unfamiliar cubase system, and have been having trouble getting the takes to sync up with my project in Logic. The studio owner says to look at the frame rate - he's working at 29.97 non-drop, and i was working 29.97 drop. However, if I change the frame rate in my pre-existing project, all my markers are off, i think the pitch shifts a little bit... i dont think that's the way to get these tracks to cooperate. Help? ski
Are you trying to align your recordings to timecode? If so then the frame rate would make a difference. However, changing frame rates will not shift the pitch, but it could potentially shift your marker positions. Post back with more details about what you're actually trying to do. Just saying "having trouble getting takes to sync up" is too vague. That could mean that they start in time and then drift. Is that what's going on? Anyway, please be more specific. MentalSanityOff
Right, I'm trying to align them both to timecode, but when i enter the drum tracks into my pre-existing project, they're always about 4 frames behind the rest of the audio. I would love to keep my marker positions, and when I change the frame rate in my project, all the audio shifts forward slightly.
ski
Ideas... • Select your markers and SMPTE-lock them • If your drums are consistently 4 frames off for the length of the song, go with it. Just offset them by 4 frames (or whatever it takes). And to that effect... • If you have a 2-mix reference from the drum tracking session, use phase cancellation to ensure alignment of your drum tracks. Post back if you want details.
