dna
I am running logic pro on a macbook pro with 4gm of ram installed. Can logic access 4gb of ram all to itself in 32bit mode? I wish to upgrade to 8gb of ram so that logic can access a full 4gb as at the moment I only have 2.7gb of ram free after a standard boot-up of osx. When people say 32bit applications can use 4gb of ram to themselves does that include the ram already stolen by macosx or if more was installed it could use a whole 4gb to itself. I'm hoping I can use more than 2.7gb for logic 32bit by installing 8gb of ram. I don't wish to get into the use of 64bit. best
ski
Logic 9 in 32-bit mode (and previous versions of Logic 7 and 8) can access approximately 3G of its 4G footprint.
dna
Thanks for the fast reply. Just so I have it straight, if I upgraded to 8gb of memory that means logic can use an entire 3gb of ram to itself even if my other programs like itunes etc are using say 2gb of the system ram? So a total of 5gb of ram is being used out of 8gb all on a 32bit logic. Is this correct? Also I've read that EXS24 can use ram outside of the logic 4gb footprint is this true? Thanks again

No, 3 on Logic, 1 to 2 on OS X. 3 to 4 left for other apps or: Also I've read that EXS24 can use ram outside of the logic 4gb footprint is this true? Yes.
