matan89
hy everyone, I need help i imported 5 snare samples into the exs24 and would like to set them all on the same note, lets say c3. But, I dont wont them to be played all at the same time, I want them to be played randomly (to get a more natural sounding snare sound). is it possible to make that in exs24 or do i have to set every sample to another key and then manually set in piano roll the notes so that two same samples never get played one after another? El nino
Wouldn't it be a lot easier to have them set up to C3,D3,E3,F3,G3? Or if you want them even closer C3, C#3, D3, D#3, E3? It's surely not that hard to just press the key next to it to get the different snares. But anyways, regarding your question I do not think it's possible, but I am not an expert by any means so someone may be able to tell you otherwise, for me though I would just set them up on different keys next to each other. matan89
i think you didint get my question, or maybe you did but you didnt get what i actually want i know, i could just put them on different keys..but then i have to programm all the notes in the song from just c3 to c3,d3,e3,f3 and g3 and there are a lot of snare hits in the song
Fierce
I'd recommend velocity layers, then use the "Random Velocity" transform feature over a long selection of notes so it's basically random.

I apologise for wasting time previously
matan89
yeah, I thought of using random velocity but i wanted to see if there is a way to incorporate multisampling instead.... thanks anyway guys, much appreciated
Creature
The only thing that has a random option is a Wave in the LFO 1 and 2. You can trigger random LFO via velocity or any other source in the modulation matrix. Every snare got to have it's own zone set to C3. You can modulate almost everything in the modulation matrix, pan, volume etc,.. Just go and try out there. It's all a matter of source - via and destynation. 8)
Jordi Torres
Layering EXS24 mkII Zones When assigning a sample to a zone, you can set the lowest and highest MIDI note velocity that will trigger that zone. The area between these values is known as the zone’svelocity range. You can layer zones—different samples—on the same keyboard note, and trigger them individually by playing at different velocities. For example: Imagine you have layered two samples (zone 1 and zone 2) on MIDI note A#2. • Zone 1 is a sample of a snare drum hit lightly, and a little off-center. It has a MIDI note velocity range of 24 to 90. • Zone 2 is a sample of a snare drum, hit hard in the center of the drum head. It has a velocity range of 91 to 127. As you can see, the maximum velocity range value of zone 1 and the minimum velocity range value of zone 2 are adjacent. If you were to play note A#2 at velocities above or below a value of 90, you would clearly hear each sample being triggered. To make this transition less abrupt, you can use the crossfade parameters to smoothly fade between each zone. Where you have distinctly different audio samples in adjacent zones, you will find crossfading very helpful in creating realistic-sounding sampler instruments. Logic Studio Instruments manual. You can add randomization in different ways after setting the zones' velocity ranges. J.
