How to make a mp3 or aiff triger-able work with mpd24/midi p

I can get the apple loops to trigger activate with my mpd24 but not a song aiff or mp3 carried over from itunes what am i not doing! Also the forward slash chop or scissor does not work in logic studio is there a new key to section. In some versions you just start the track and everytime you hit { \ } it will crop on the fly thanks for your help!!

You could load the file into an EXS24 to sample it: place the file on an audio track, select it and choose Audio > Convert to New Sampler Instrument Track.
