Environment Controller not sending to Controller Assignment

Hi all,

Fairly simple one this but I cant seem to work out whats up. What Im doing is creating a knob in the environment on the clicks & ports page. I make this knob a midi controller type and then assign channel and number to the knob. E.g. chan 1 ,

CC120.

I then route the knob into the sequencer input. When I turn it I see all the midi messages coming into the sequencer via the transport display.

I then go to the Controller Assignment and when I try to learn the controller input nothing happens when i turn the knob.

So my question: is it possible to learn a controller assignment via a knob in the environment.?

I cant see why not but maybe im missing out a vital step or something.

Thanks.

There is a way to do that, but that's a very roundabout and unconventional method. Perhaps if you described what you're trying to ultimately control and why, we could suggest a much more efficient method.

Also, you should note that some instruments may respond to a cc120 with the standard MIDI behaviour for that controller; all sounds off on the given MIDI channel. Usually best to avoid cc120 thru 125.

Yes you can learn a controller assignment.

However, what you are doing is like trying to play a guitar with no strings on it.

What are you trying to control with the knob?
