sah5150
I have an issue with the I/O Utility I thought someone here might be able to help with. I have Logic 9 and an Apogee Symphony system with an AD-16X and a DA-16X. I have used digital I/O to connect an Axe-FX processor that I'm using just for effects. I have a session with a guitar track. I bus this track to an Aux with the I/O Utility as a plugin insert. I set the output on the I/O Utility to the digital ins of the Axe (Output 9-10 in Logic) and the input on the I/O Utility to the output of the Axe-FX (Input 17-18 in Logic). When I play the session, I hear the stereo effects in addition to the dry guitar track. Beautiful. Now here's the rub - when I bounce my session to mix, the effects are gone. I just get the dry guitar track. I have the output of the Aux set to my Stereo Output and if I drop the dry track volume, all I hear is the stereo effected guitar. I can see output on my Aux track and the Stereo Output, but when I mix, no effects just dry guitar. I turned the volume of my dry track down completely and I still hear the stereo effected guitar track when I play the session, but after bouncing, I get a silent mp3 or wav file.... I don't get it. What am I doing wrong? I mean... I can see the input of my effects unit lighting up, I can hear the effects in the software, but they disappear when I mix down with Bounce... Any thoughts appreciated... Steve
Eric Cardenas
You have to bounce in real time.
sah5150
You have to bounce in real time. Thanks, man! Of course, that solves my problem. I'm embarrassed to say how long I spent on this when the answer is so obvious. Nothing is going through my external effects unit in offline bounce mode... Geez... ERO
Also, if you have to do a lot of bounces, you could print the track(s) w/external effects in Logic, allowing you to continue using offline bounces.
