475ENTertainment
right now im using a line 6 tone port ux2 for my mxl 990 mic, the problem is this, when i put any effects on the mic i can hear them fine before or during the recording of the vocal track, but on playback the only thing that gets recorded are my vocals them self, not the effects at all, but no matter what, as long as i have the effects on the mic i can always hear them if im recording or not. if theres any info that i might have left out that you might need just let me know
redlogic
That's how it works. You hear the effects, but record the track dry. The wisdom in this allows you tweak settings or change effects when mixing. What sounds great by itself early on, may be too much or not enough in the context of the full mix. 475ENTertainment
ok cool thanks for that info, it makes alot of sense, this is my first time using a audio interface like this so i was assuming that the effects that i load onto the mic from the interface were also recorded into the track

Digital effects within the audio interface? What exactly are you talking about? I was talking about Logic's effects. It's still more common to record dry, so you can fine tune effects later. No law set in stone though...you can do whatever you want. It's just nice to not be painted into a corner.
475ENTertainment
oh ok, i was using the effects from my line 6 tone port ux2 usb audio interface, the program that runs that is called gear box, and thats what i was referring to, you can set the mic to be pretty much as is or you can put the effects on it, so im guessing that would be considered digital effects? but when i put those on the mic before recording i hear them while recording but when i listen to the playback the vocals are normal with no effects at all
