kyletrt
Hey I'm trying to create a click track and live backing tracks for my band. I have done this before on PC based recording software and have had no problems, but recently switched to Logic Pro 9 and have been stuck, and quite honestly, I'm a noob. Anyways, I already have the click created on one track (Audio 1), and the audio for the backing tracks on another track (Audio 2). I need to pan Audio 1 - 100% to the right so that it can only be heard in the right speaker, and not at all in the left. I then need to convert Audio 2 - from Stereo into one single Mono clip (Both L and R mixed in the mono) and pan that 100% to the left so that it can only be heard in the left speaker, and not at all in the right. Could some body please guide me through this process. I need some help fast. Thanks,
kyletrt
A bit more information. I am not using Klopfgeist but in fact using a own click sound I created. Some reason I am having trouble panning the tracks fully to their positions. I can still here both I each monitor. Any reason why this may be happening? Jordi Torres
Knowing that... Mono channel strips feature a Pan control, which determines the position of a signal in the stereo image. At the center pan position, the channel strip sends equal amounts of the signal to both sides of the stereo image. If you were to increase the pan position on the left side and decrease it on the right, the sound would move to the left. and that Stereo channel strips display Balance controls. The Balance control differs from the Pan control in that it controls the relative levels of two signals (Left and Right) at their outputs. ...assuming your click track is mono, simply pan it all the way right. For your backing track, insert a Direction Mixer plug-in (under "Imaging") and set the direction parameter to -90. This will pan both left and right channels to the left. J. I then need to convert Audio 2 - from Stereo into one single Mono clip (Both L and R mixed in the mono) and pan that 100% to the left so that it can only be heard in the left speaker, and not at all in the right. Simply click on the double circle so it becomes a single circle. Then apply left pan. The file is unchanged, but the playback is now as if the file were mono. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5121/5323055635_307d290c72_m.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5170/5323055669_45decb6d0e_m.jpg To create a new mono file you must also set the Stereo Output channel strip to mono (same recipe) and use the bnc button to bounce. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5086/5323660692_2fc0bacf04_t.jpg If you use the Bounce key command, it will still bounce a stereo file, you must use the button - Logic quirk. Eriksimon
A bit more information. I am not using Klopfgeist but in fact using a own click sound I created. Some reason I am having trouble panning the tracks fully to their positions. I can still here both I each monitor. Any reason why this may be happening? That was essential info I missed. It has no bearing on my recipe though, this problem is somewhere (read: anywhere) in you signal chain. So what Audio Interface do you use (add that to your signature) and how have you set it up in either Audio MIDI Setup or in the Interface-specific software (if you have that)? Extra: Is Universal Track Mode enabled? It should be. Logic Pro > Preferences > Audio > Devices > Core audio

ChrisThom
You may want to make sure & listen to your tracks after you sub them to one channel to make sure you don't have any phase cancelation of instruments you may need.
